A Yellow Rose Highlight

Hi there! I'm popping in today to share a card featuring some of my favorite Red Rubber Designs stamp sets. I knew that I wanted to use the Rosebud image for my project this month but I didn't have a real plan. I started out stamping the image using brown ink to create the background.

I used the Speckle Background stamp to add a bit of texture, and then inked the edges of the stamped panel. I was going to stop there and maybe add a sentiment and a bit of twine, but I decided to highlight one of the images with color. After stamping and water coloring the image, I fussy cut it and adhered it to the card panel. 

 

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added a little "nest" of gold metallic thread and adhered them on top of the highlighted rose. The sentiment is from a set called Background Soup. I love how versatile this particular image is. You can use the stamp as a Background image, or you can cut the sentiments out individually! 

 

 

The sentiments are tiny, but sometimes you need a smaller sentiment for your projects. I also added some Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal Drops, although it didn't really do much for the card. I think a gold color would have been better. Nonetheless I like it, hope you do too! As always you can click the photos to enlarge the view.

Tea Pot Mouse

Hope you all had a great weekend! I have a quick card share today. I used the other image from Pickled Potpourri Designs' Pot of Tea to create a "just a note" card.

I colored the image using Copic & ProMarkers, added a bit of patterned paper, and embellished the card with twine & a button. I stamped the sentiment on a little tag, and adhered it directly to the card, tucked just under the button.

I'm entering this card into two challenges this week...

Stamping with Distress Paints

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend!

Last week I got a chance to play with some Ranger distress paints and I'm in LOVE. I really love how it reacts with water. I haven't mastered the "swipe" technique that Tim Holtz uses when he swipes his tags over the paint he lays on his craft mat, but I'm going to keep practicing.

I spent some time using the "direct to rubber" technique... I applied the paint directly on my rubber stamp. I wanted the edges of the inner most part of the petals to have a slightly darker shade so I dabbed on Fire Brick Red first, and dabbed Wild Honey over it and over the rest of the petals. I then stamped directly on the cardstock after inking it up.  I love how it turned out, and how easy it was to layer the colors directly on the stamp. I stamped the center of the flowers separately. I applied Walnut Stain distress paint first and then applied Wild Honey directly on top. After stamping the centers I brushed on some clear Wink of Stella glitter.

I added some ink splatters using the Walnut Stain Distress paint, and inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress ink. I used my favorite brown ink, Versamagic Jumbo Java to stamp the sentiment.

The sunflower image is from an old TAC stamp set called Mini Sunflower. Red Rubber Designs carries many of the former TAC images but this particular set is not in the store. If you really like it, keep checking back, it might be added at some point.

I got a new stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called Square Sayings. This card started out with me "trying out" the star block stamp. Whenever I get new stamps, I condition them by rubbing an eraser over it, I clean it, and then ink and stamp it on scrap paper a few times.  

The background is a little splotchy, and somewhat gradiated on some areas but I kinda like it.  The pattered paper has a fun color palette that I don't normally work with, but I really like it too.

I went to the mall with my MIL the other day, and I think every store we went into featured some type of clothing and/or home decor item with the colors from this paper collection. I especially love the teal & robin's egg blue colors that seem to be everywhere this spring. Color just makes me happy :)

Love Always & ♥ Miss you

Happy Friday! 

Just wanted to pop in today to share a few cards I created this past week. 

I'm so happy with how this card turned out. I used some Quickutz alpha dies that I've had for awhile. I finally got some extended sized cutting plates for my Cuttlebug. What a difference it makes when you have to cut multiple letters, shapes, ect. Love it! 

This card is a mish-mash of several different stamps from different stamp sets. I wanted to create a card that was gender neutral & somewhat "Valentine-y" but would be great to give any time of the year. 

This card is inspired by this weeks CAS-ual Friday Challenge, which is to create a project using alphabet stamps, stickers, or die cuts. Those triangels on the white strip, and arrows stamped on the card base are from a new stamp set called Trifecta,  by a newer stamp company called Mama Elephant Stamps. Love these stamps :) I can't wait to see what else is store for this company.

Isn't that background paper gorgeous??? It's another pattern from Pink Paisley's 365 degrees collection.  I really wanted it to be the focus of this card so I kept it simple. The MM alpha stickers coordinate perfectly with the paper. I used my PTI butterfly die and some mini rhinestones to create the butterfly.

Spring is just around the corner...

This winter we've had so much snow I've gotten used to seeing and now that it's melting it seems kinda strange. But I won't complain... bring on spring!!

I've been dabbling in sewing & coaster making but I don't have any completed projects to share just yet but I do have two "springy" cards to share with you all today.

I've always loved butterflies but lately I've really been enjoying PTI's newest butterfly stamp set & die and the Life stamp set too. I can't seem to stay away from this color combo! The light blue color is PTI's Spring Rain... it's GORGEOUS! Most of the ink in my collection are chalk, dye, or hybrid based inks, but this particular ink is a pigment based ink and it's beautiful! It does take a little longer to dry compared to a dye based ink but the results are stunning. 

I added some diamond glaze to the purple flowers to give them a dewy look. After I stamped the focal image I immediately mounted it using foam tape not realizing I forgot to stamp the sentiment so I just pulled out my MM tiny alpha stickers to create one.  

I really like how this card turned out although I think I may add some stitching along the grass. The glittery patterned paper was from a scrap I had in my stash, I believe it's from a DCWV paper pack from last spring. The sentiment is by Verve Stamps.

 

More watercolor Plants

Watercolor plants is another set from TAC that I really love. I created this card a few months ago but never got around to sharing it. I recently purchased a similar set from PTI called "Life" and I can't wait to play with it. The images are larger and it also comes with a few sentiments. 

Hope you're enjoy this day. It's sunny here and I'm hoping it'll melt most of the snow remaining on the sidewalks so I won't have much to shovel later!LOL Have a good one :)

 

Smooch Spritz

 
My LSS got a new product in several weeks ago that really intrigued me. It's called Smooch Spritz it's been described as being similar to Glimmer Mist or Maya Mist, both of which I've never used. 

If you aren't familiar with either product it's like watercolor & shimmery eyeshadow mixed together in a small tubular spray bottle. It's really neat!! I used the orange color on the base of the card. 

Since it is a water based medium you'll need to use a heavy weight cardstock because your cardstock will probably warp some. If you hold it up high away from your cardstock (don't forget to protect your work surface) it gives the paper a finer imperfect misty look. It kind of reminds me of dyed Easter eggs.

Have you seen my Mojo?

because it hasn't been here in weeks. :( I'm planning to do some cleaning and purging, hopefully that'll stir up some inspiration.

I did create a card for the weekly color challenge over at the Paper Wings website, I'm not too happy with it but it felt good to sit down and actually start and finish a card.

 

I stamped the background using a sentiment from TAC's ordinary greetings set. The focal image is from a retired set called Friendly Note. Then I colored the image using a glitter pen & Copic markers. You can click the image for a close up view.

On another crafty front, I'm taking my first sewing class tomorrow at Joann's. We'll be making an apron. The pattern seems simple enough so hopefully I'll have something to share with you on Friday.
