Adorable Smiling Butterfly

Hi all! I have a cheery card to share with you all today. This smiling butterfly is just too cute, she's a digi image from Pickled Potpourri Designs' Cutie Pies stamp set. 

I colored this image using Spectrum Noir markers. I'm slowly adding them to my alcohol marker collection. I usually wait until they go on sale for $7.88 at ACMoore and will pick up a pack or two. I didn't think I'd like them, but I really like the newer designed markers! They color and blend pretty well without bleeding, which was a common complaint about these markers when they first became popular among card makers a few years ago.

I matted the image and adhered it to the card front using foam tape. I then stamped the sentiment on a strip of white cardstock using pink dye ink and tucked it behind the image. I used some white embroidery floss and a button to embellish the card.

CFK Birthday Party Challenge

I love those rainbow colors!

I decided to work with the dominant colors in my kit this month...  kraft, pink, light blue, dark blue, & white. This layout showcases photos of Virginia Beach, Virginia, one of my absolute favorite places to be!

 My next project is a card, inspired by the heart place cards in the photo.

I die cut hearts from kraft, pink, & blue cardstock and adhered them to a white cardstock panel.

I then added some mini sequins and popped up the heart panel using foam tape, and then adhered it to the blue cardstock base.

Chatterbox Challenge

So... do you remember Chatterbox? A long, long... ok well maybe not that long ago, but there used to be a Scrapbook company called Chatterbox who made beautiful patterned papers and lot's of other paper crafting goodies. I loved their patterned paper! They had a signature to their design, you could easily identify it without needing to see the manufacturers label. 

I've been hoarding the last few sheets of my Chatterbox paper for a good 5+ years now! LOL I decided to sit down and actually create something with them. It was so hard to cut into this paper... but I think I may have one or two more sheets somewhere! LOL

I created a 6x8 layout to go in my Sn@p Album. 

I also created a few masculine cards, one for Father's Day & a Congrats card, that would work well for graduation, retirement, promotion, ect. 

Scenic Route is another one of my faves who is no longer around. Some of my current faves are Basic Grey, Simple Stories, Fancy Pants Designs, Echo Park, & Teresa Collins. Who are your favorite patterned paper manufacturers, past or present?

Happy Friday! I hope you all had a great week! It's been pretty rainy here all week but the sun is shining today! I Hope that it sticks around this weekend!

Today Papertrey Ink is hosting it's monthly blog hop.

I ♥ ♥ ♥ the colors and patterns in the inspiration photo this month! When I saw the stacked bowls and the scalloped edges I knew I just had to use a layered flower for the focal image of my card. 

I used Spring Moss cardstock, one of my favorite shades of green. Here's a close up photo. I used my nestabilities dies to cut the flower die cuts and then spritzed them with water, and scrunched each piece before layering them using foam tape.

Make It Monday

Hi ya'll!  Yep, I'm back :) 

It rained pretty much most of the weekend here so I spent some time in my craft room. I sorted through things, updated my wish lists, and did some blog hopping.

I also had an interesting conversation with my son. He asked me why I had a scrap room "since I don't scrap any more." So NOT fair for him to call me out like that! LOL But it's true, I haven't scrapped in awhile, so I'm going to be working on that. 

Today I'm going to share a card with you that I created for PaperTrey Ink's Make it Monday challenge. This weeks challenge is to create a background pattern using stamps that aren't necessarily background stamp images. 

For my card I used the area rug from On My Couch Additions.I inked the stamp using black ink staggering the image on each line and then inked the edges. LOVE how this turned out. It kinda reminds me of a Basic Grey pattern :) This was a fun challenge, a great way to look at your stamps a little differently. Hope you'll get a chance to play along too. Thanks for looking!

Black cardstock!

Isn't it lovely how that pink color just POPS  :) My Michael's is carrying some new products in the scrap isle... Studio G unmounted rubber stamps, and they are really cute!!! Some are $1.00 each and some are priced at $2.99. The flowers stems on this image is from one of the $1.00 sets, but I added some flowers using the little flower from PTI's Life stamp set. I also found these black & pink alpha stickers in the $1.00 bin this past winter. I'm glad to have found a use for them :)
