Frosted Cookie Ornaments

Happy Saturday everyone! I’m back today to share some ornaments that I created for my Christmas tree this year. 

These faux frosted cookie ornaments were made from cardstock! I used my Silhouette to cut the shapes, and after adhering 8 or so layers to create a sturdy almost chipboard like base I applied some Distress ink around the edges to give them a baked appearance.

 

 

I also applied a few coats of Matte Medium especially along the sides to help preserve the "cookies" and then got to work decorating them! I added some Diamond Dust glitter to the snowflake cookies and sealed it with a few coats of Matte Medium.

I used white dimensional paint to create the frosting for all of the cookies and used some 4mm no hole plastic beads to create the sprinkles.

 

I added some superfine glitter to this one. I had a lot of fun creating these cookies and look forward to "baking up" some more batches!

 

Harvest of Blessings

 

I reluctantly packed away my Fall leaves, but not before creating another card! I used another beautiful Gelli printed paper and a stitched rectangle die to create a mat for my card. I wish my photography skills were better because these photos just do not capture the gorgeousness of the gold shimmer in this print. I used Liqutex Iridescent Bright Gold Heavy Body paint, which is semi-opaque and played very nicely with the shades of brown that I used.

 

I stamped the sentiment on a kraft cardstock die cut, added some foam tape to the center, and adhered it to the card front. I die cut the leaf a few times and adhered them together to give it some dimension, and then adhered it to the card front.

I have a quick card to share with you today! This super duper clean & simple card features another Gelli printed paper, leaf die cut, sentiment sticker, and a tiny staple. I love the blotchy big leaves in the background on this card. I was going to add another layer to this Gelli print, but I decided that I really liked it as is. This blue shade almost has a summer or Spring vibe to it, but paired with the kraft card base and the Gelli printed leaf I think it works for a Fall card.

Autumn's Splendor

 

 

I can't believe we're in the last days of November, this month just flew right by me! Although I love Christmas and I'm looking forward to creating ornaments and gingerbread related goodies, I need a few more weeks of Fall! I spent the last few days creating some Fall cards using some Gelli printed papers. This is one of my favorites! I used a few shades of blue, teal, brown, and gold acrylic paints. The thing I love about Gelli printing is that each print is kind of a surprise! The thing I hate about Gelli Printing is not being able to duplicate a beloved print! LOL I need to remember to scan them before I cut into them.

 

There are some talented Gelli print artists who can get close! They create some beautiful and what I call "intentional prints," meaning they actually have a method and a plan when they are printing. Most of my prints are random happy surprises.

For He is Good

I'm back today to share another card I created using the Every Leaf stamp set. I started out by matting a brown A2 card with a strip of houndstooth patterned paper from the Robyn digital patterned paper collection by Pickled Potpourri Designs. I applied a smidge of Antique Linen Distress ink along the edges of the paper before adhering it.

I stamped the largest leaf image from the set on cream colored cardstock, colored it using Copic Markers and Polychromos colored pencils. I blended Vintage Photo and Antique Linen Distress inks over the panel and applied some Ground Espresso Archival ink along the edges of the panel. I then stamped and colored a few of the smaller leaves, fussy cut them out, and adhered them flat to the card mat. I stamped one of the sentiments from the Ever So Thankful stamp set using Archival Ground Espresso ink, and added some Perfect Pearl splatters on the panel. I then adhered it to the card front using foam tape.

This card turned out unexpectedly grungy due to an ink smudge I had to doctor LOL, but I think the grunge works well with this Fall themed leafy card.

Hey Everyone! Typepad has been having serious issues for a couple of weeks now. Perfect timing since my mojo is back and I had started to post more regularly! I think that Typepad was trying to do some updates and they ran into some unexpected problems. I've been using Typepad since 2006 and have never experienced issues to this degree.

My husband has been a software engineer for almost 30 years so I kind of have an idea of what might be going on behind the scenes. The IT team has my deepest sympathies but I'm annoyed and frustrated. I'm still having issues logging onto my account consistently. It looks like my blog can be viewed intermittently but often doesn't load. When it does, many of the photos are missing and the formatting seems to be off on many of the posts. I'm going to give them a little time to see if they can work out the bugs.

In the meantime you can always view my crafty makes on Instagram @stacywrogersdesigns. I have some Fall themed projects I'll be sharing in the next day or so.
