Can you believe it??? I have a Make It Monday card to share... on MONDAY! :)
This weeks challenge is to use a selective embossing technique using a solid die to mask an area on your embossed cardstock to prevent it from becoming embossed when you run it through your embossing machine. You can check out the video tutorial that Erin created here.
Supplies: PTI Stamps: Modern Basics & Fillable Frames #10, & Studio G, Paper: PTI & PaperSource, Other: Momento & Versamagic ink, floral embellie, button, & embroidery floss. Fillable Frames #10 die, Cuttlebug embossing folder.
This is such a cool technique, I'm sure I'll be using it often! I down own any PTI embossing folders so I used a Cuttlebug polka dot embossing folder with PTI's Fillable Frame Die #10.
Did you know that you can use your embossing folders just like the PTI embossing plates! Instead of closing your folder to emboss you just leave it open, place your die on the right side of folder with the cutting edge facing up, place your cardstock on top of the die, and then lay your Nestabilities embossing mat on top. If you're using a Cuttlebug machine you'll use the same "sandwich" you would normally use to emboss... A plate on bottom, B plate, embossing folder with embossing mat, and then B plate on top.
I wanted the smooth un-embossed area on the edge of the cardstock so I aligned my die to the left inner edge of the folder then I placed the cardstock on top of the die, moving it a little to the right of the die. then placed the embossing mat on top of the cardstock. Then I placed B plate on top. Hope this helps!
I really love the way the border stamp for the die looks with the embossing. I stamped the card base with a stamp from Modern Basics and then added some foam dots to the embossed panel. I think it took me about 10 minutes to complete this card. So quick & easy but lovely :) Thanks for looking!
