Happy Saturday! Hope you are enjoying your weekend. It's been pretty quite around here. I spent some time in my craft room today creating. Although it's getting to the point where I'll need to spend some time cleaning it so that I can actually find stuff. I nearly threw a fit because I couldn't find my PTI Text Background stamp set. I looked for it for about an hour... please don't ask me if I looked RIGHT IN FRONT OF MY FACE! LOL Yea... it was here on my desk. I'll have to bite my tongue the next time I mutter those very words to my DS or DH! LOL

Anyway just wanted to share one of the cards I whipped up using  Sketch 129.  Thanks for looking :)

It's PTI Blog Hop Time...

"We want to see your best use of scallops, of any sort, on a project! This can include scalloped borders, offset-scallops, stamped scallops, scalloped mats, scalloped frames, layered scallops, scalloped tags or anything else you can dream up! I've been a PaperTrey Ink fan from the very beginning but this is my first hop. If you've never participated brace yourself.... I'm sure there will be a LOT of participants sharing their PTI craftiness :) 

I decided to create a layout instead of my usual card. I'm a little sad though. I worked on this the other night and was really happy with how it turned out but when I went to scan it this morning I noticed the ink that I used dried much lighter than it actually is :( If you click to photo you can kinda see the stamping.

I stamped the Kraft cardstock using two of the little houses from the Wonderfully Whimsical stamp set. I created a card a couple of weeks ago using this same technique and stamp set B&W patterned paper It's such a cute set :)

I really like positioning of the circle on this sketch & I love these flowers on this background paper... Basic Grey of course :) I'm enjoying the sunshine here today, hope you're enjoying some nice weather too.

A little sunshine for ya...

Well not literally, although I wish I could give you some!... but this cheery yellow card definitely made my day seem brighter. 

 
I'm taking a class this semester that is taking up a little bit more time than I thought I would need to dedicate to it but I spent a lot of time this weekend working so that I would have time to play in my craft room today. This is one of the cards I created. A true CAS with a little something extra...

 
I colored the chicky using Copic & BIC markers and added glossy accents to its egg. I stamped the patterned strip using a "spring" sentiment stamp and repeatedly stamped it using different ink colors. Thanks for visiting today :)

 

PTI Make It Mondays Challenge

 

Whew! I made it just in time to share my creation for PTI's Make It Monday challenge.  The challenge was to create something using a vellum sentiment strip. I didn't have any vellum so I had to run out to get a sheet from Michaels. I'm definitely going to add some to my shopping cart the next time I order from PTI. The quality of their vellum seems soooooo much better compared to the vellum that I used!

 
Anyway here's my card. I really, really, really wanted to use red ink for the couch because I love my red couch :)  but I resisted and chose a color that I don't use often. It's PTI's Ripe Avocado & it's  such a luscious green. It's definitely one of my favorite greens. I used the On My Couch stamp set & die for the focal images on this card. I stamped the pillows, cut them out, and propped them up using pop dots. Then I used a sliver of Basic Grey patterned paper underneath the vellum sentiment strip. It kinda looks like a pretty area rug doesn't it? I really wished I had some Ripe Avocado twine to add to the top portion of the card.  If you know of a manufacturer who makes a twine that matches let me know!

Paper Flowers

 Happy Tuesday! Hope you're having a great day! Today I was browsing some of the cards & layouts I've created recently and realized how much I LOVE red. So I wanted to challenge myself to use some colors I don't use often this week.

I actually really love purple but I don't create with it often... but when I do I always seem to pair it with flowers! I'm not sure what's up with that LOL! Anyway I created these flowers using scalloped circle nestabilities circles. I embossed them using an embossing folder, cut them out using the nesties, and then crumbled them up before layering them. I used a flower punch for the smallest flower. Thanks for looking!

Happy Heart Day!

 Hope you've been showered with love today! Just wanted to share a couple of CAS cards I made for T's teachers.

My friend Laurie always amazes me with her creations, especially those involving embossing & embossing folders. These cards were totally inspired by her :)

 
I used SU's Square Lattice embossing folder to create the background. LOVE this embossing folder!! I create a red card for one of T's teachers and used the same design in pink for one of his other teachers.

 
I used PTI Fillable Frames #11 & Polka Dot Basics II, Cuttlebug die cut hearts, & rhinestones to create the tag. I forgot to photograph the inside but I stamped "happy heart day" from a TAC set for the sentiment.

Just wanted to pop in to share this card with you all. PTI has had some great challenges this week! I don't have a lot of  sets but the ones I do have I don't use often enough. My crafting budget is very small so I always have a never ending wishlist. I'm hoping that they'll have a month of releases that I'll hate so that I can at least make a tiny dent in my wishlist. So far it hasn't happened! LOL

Canvas Stars

A few months ago I won a give-a-way hosted by Jillibean Soup. I won a few packs of canvas star shapes & some sugar picks... super fun stuff that I hadn't had a chance to play with until today.

 

I made this card for my little BIG brother's birthday next month. I call him my little BIG brother because he's a year younger than I am but almost a foot taller than me. Which I think is completely unfair :)

 
Luckily I have some inks that are pretty close matches to the colors on the canvas, I used them with some PTI & TAC background stamps to create the patterned paper.

No white cardstock

 
Hi all! Insomnia is in full force tonight so I thought I would create something for the contest PTI is having. I actually shocked myself, and created something without using white cardstock :)

 
I'm actually really happy with how this turned out. I used Ripe Avocado ink to stamp the polka dots on the kraft cardstock base. Then I used Spring Rain ink and a flower stamp from the Garden of Life set to create the pattern on the Spring Rain cardstock  and then matted it using Dark Chocolate cardstock. Then I stamped the center of the flowers using Ripe Avocado ink and then applied Glossy Accents overtop. I used the fillable frame #11 stamp & die, a mini button & scrappers floss to create the focal image. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the Butterfly Dreams set.

This color combo was a bit of a challenge for me considering 99.99% of the time I use white cardstock somewhere on my cards. I'm definitely going to challenge myself to use colored cardstock more often!

Mostly patterned paper

 
It's hump day! Well actually it's almost over, which is fine by me! I'm really looking forward to the weekend. Anyway I whipped up this quick card using CPS sketch #203 It works so well for those patterned paper prints that are either really busy or ones that you just want to be the focus of your project!

 
This patterned paper is from DCWV's Sweet paper stack. I'm slowly working though using up this paper stack... slowly! LOL I don't know what it is about glittery paper, sometimes they are a challenge for me to work with. I kept this one on the masculine side since I never have enough of those, this sketch works really well for them!

B&W Patterned Paper

 Morning all! When PTI released this set Wonderfully Whimsical several months ago I thought it was so cute! When it finally arrived I was stumped as to how to use it. Well this weekend when I was working on another project I thought these little houses would make a great patterned paper.

 
It's such a simple design but it has so many possibilities! For this card I decided to work with black and white. I chose two houses and stamped them with black ink, staggering them. I used the "hello" sentiment from PTI's Mixed Messages set, and "What's New" from Inkadinkado. I added some sponging to the edges, and Diamond Stickles to each little heart to give it a little texture. Easy peasy :) Thanks for looking!

Superbowl Sunday...

Well I wasn't planning to watch the game since none of my teams made it but I'm sitting here rooting for Green Bay :) DH basically is refusing to watch it, the poor guys is so disgusted that his Ravens didn't make it! LOL I shouldn't laugh, he's so passionate about his football! I can't say I blame him! When the Chargers were a great team years ago I went with a friend to the stadium to welcome them home after they won the playoffs and it was AMAZING! It's sooooo fun being amongst thousands and thousands of happy people. The energy from the crowd was so powerful. It just makes me wonder what the world would be like if we could transfer all of that happiness and joy to everyday life.  Hey, a girl can dream :)

Anyhoo, Stamphaven is hosting its' annual WinterHaven event this week. It consists of  lot's of fun challenges and a few games here and there. I created this card for a challenge I'm hosting, which is to create your own patterned paper using at least one stamped image and one textured medium such as glitter, fun flock, embossing power, ect.

 
I used PTI's Garden of Life stamp set to create the floral background. I colored each flower usingCopic markers, added some shimmer using a Sakura gelly roll pen, and then applied some Ranger glossy accents to each flower center. The sentiment is a Basic Grey stamp I picked up from my LSS for $3 I think.  But I'm not sure what the name of the set is, sorry!

Are you dreaming of spring?

Hi all! DS only went to school one day last week so I really haven't had a chance to create anything. It looks like there's another storm coming across the East coast this week. We're supposed to get some freezing rain and maybe some flakes hopefully it won't bring too much of a mess.  We've really been spared this winter... so far! LOL So I'm not desparate for spring yet. Anyhoo, I took a  little time today to play even though the house is a disaster! I'll worry about it tomorrow, unless the cleaning fairy comes while I'm sleeping tonight :)

Normally when I create spring or Easter cards I rarely use black except to stamp my image or sentiment but I really love the bold black paired with the springy colors. The patterned paper is from BG's Kioshi paper collection. All stamps used are from TAC. I've had that bunny image for awhile now but I don't think I've ever used it. I stamped it using Palette's  Bella Rose ink on pink cardstock to create the patterned paper.

Then I tore the top part to add some texture. I purposely added crooked stitches at the top but I really intended to make them messier than they ended up. I didn't know I would have to work to create straight stiches and crooked stitches??!! LOL
