Twinkling H2O's...

 

 

Have you seen Jennifer Mcquire's Twinkling H2O's video  I was so inspired by it, and the fact that I hadn't touched my H2O's in a very long while that I sat down to play with them tonight. Several years ago I read on a message board that the original company manufacturing H2O's were either discontinuing the product and or going out of business. It sounds like Creative Imaginations picked them up... I'm so happy to discover this. It's a fun product! If you aren't sure what H2O's are, they are shimmery watercolor cakes. Here's a close up of one of the leaves on my card...

Dig it Out Friday: Patterned Paper

 

For today's challenge I'd like you to pull out some patterned paper that you've had in your stash for more than 6 months, and create something... anything! It can be a card, layout, altered item, anything goes! When you're finished please add a link to your creation using the Mr. Linky widget below. I'd love to see what you created! 

Here's mine... I really love the color combo on this patterned paper.  It's from My Mind's Eye Be Merry collection. I used a Spica glitter pen to accent the ornaments and garland on the trees. Thanks for looking! Can't wait to see what you've created!

 

 

A Challenge for you...

This week I challenged myself to rediscover my stash, to dig through it and actually use some of the contents. I'm sure many of you are like me... we buy things with great intentions and never get around to using those items.

I thought it would make for a fun challenge, so every other Friday I'm going to challenge you to "Dig It Out" and create something. I may challenge you to search for a specific item to put to use, or I may ask you to create a specific project with a list of materials.  For the most part it'll be a fun way to use some of the supplies you've accumulated and create some projects you've been meaning to get to. Halloween Tags

I had a chance to play around with the Picasa 3 software for a little while. There is an option to create  a photo collage... it's pretty cool! I usually use Microsoft Picture It Pro, but my PC has crashed a few times over the last month so I haven't installed it yet. But I really like the Picasa editing software. I don't do any fancy edits, mostly just resizing and adding a watermark to my images so it works well for me.

I don't buy mini stamps often but I purchased a set call Trick Or Treat from TAC a few years ago. I knew the images would be the perfect size for mini cards or for creating patterned paper. The kitty and the Trick or Treat bags are two of the images from the set. I used a "to & from" stamp from another TAC set, and the "Happy Halloween" sentiment & witch hat on the tag below are from a mini tag set Making Memories sold several years ago. 

 
I used Basic Grey's Eerie collection again for all three tags. I layered this one with a piece of black cardstock that I stamped using an image from PTI's Text Background II set, with white pigment ink. It also has two mini purple rhinestones on the edges of the mini tag.

A Cute Little Spider

 

Hi all, hope you’re having a great week so far! I wanted to share this cute Halloween card with you all. The spider image is from TCRS, isn’t he adorable?! I can't recall who the manufacturer for the patterned paper is, it's been in my stash for a really long time. The sentiment stamp is by Stampendous. 

 
This year my son wants a “really scary” costume. Gone are the days of anything relatively cute, he’s too “MANLY for cute stuff…” his words not mine! LOL  Tomorrow I’m going to share a few Halloween gift tags. Thanks for stopping by! 

One stamp three ways...

Well sort of! I guess I should say one stamp, 3 similar layouts  =) I made some Halloween cards & tags over the weekend that I'll be sharing with you this week. 

I had a few sheets of paper left over from  Basic Grey's Eerie collection that I got last year, and a stamp in my stash that I don't think I've ever used before. I purchased it from Third Coast Rubber Stamps several years ago. It's a great larger sized sentiment that works especially well with the patterns in these papers. 

I'm learning that my "style" seems to be a little more clean and simple with a few embellishments here and there. What can I say? I like clean lines! LOL Sometimes I try different styles but I always go back to the basics... cardstock, patterned paper, ink, stamps, and one or two embellishments. 

The basics works particularly well when I use busy patterned papers.  For these cards I added some inking, white embossing powder, mini brads, buttons, scrappers floss, & some ribbon to keep the focus on the patterns of the papers.

How was your summer?

I'm sorry I've been MIA for soooooo long. The month of August was pretty busy for my family. We had a great summer! Hope you did too!

 

My mojo went on vacation too... I think it's coming back and thank goodness because I need to get started on my Christmas cards. I usually try to start working on them over the summer but this summer was so busy I didn't really have a chance to. 

 

Today I decided to sit down and think about some ideas, and I challenged myself to use supplies that are in my stash. I really like how this turned out! I may try some other color schemes but I really love these shades of blue.
