January Angel Art Challenge

Hey Ya'll! It's time for another round of AA! This months challenge was to create a card, scrapbook layout, mini album, or an altered art using the following products...

Glossy Cardstock
Felt
Buttons
Thread, ribbon, or scrappers floss to attach your buttons
1-2 additional embellishments
2-3 stamped images/sentiments
your choice of ink, color mediums, additional cardstock and/or patterned paper

Here's my take on the challenge...

I used the faux linen technique on the background paper and square mat that the felt hearts are adhered to. First I stamped the paisley image randomly with Palette L'Amore ink, sanded the cardstock and then inked it up using Palette Cognac. The square mat I just inked and sanded using the red & brown inks.

Ink: Palette L'Amore Red & Cognac

Embellishments: Making Memories button, scrappers floss, die cut felt hearts, ribbon & pearl dots from Michaels.

Online Escape

So this weekend is the reveal of The Angel Company's Magalogue. Normally they would be releasing the Spring & Summer catalog but they have decided to switch back to one catalog a year. So Instead of waiting until next fall they are introducing a Magazine style catalog. 

I haven't received mine yet but there are lot's of sneak peeks poppinig up in the blog world. You can check out Jen's blog where she has a photo of the cover and a few of the new stamp sets.

The ink on the title got a little smudged when I added the clouds but I was too lazy to fix it! LOL

I'm a little sad & thrilled :)

I'm a little sad that the Ravens didn't win this weekend :( But it was a good game!

But I'm THRILLED about it being inauguration day today. I live about an hour from D.C but did not venture there today. The crowds on TV seemed so MASSIVE! I can only imagine the energy there. Today is a BEAUTIFUL day! We've deemed it "Obama Day" here in our household LOL.

I'm also thrilled that I had a chance to create a few cards this weekend. I used up some scraps to create this birthday card that will go in my stash.

My first sewing class...

Went pretty well. I learned a lot of new things but I was not able to finish my apron. The stitching on the pockets are a little off LOL. But I get the jist of what I was supposed to do so I'll try it again using a different pattern after I complete this one... flawed or not! LOL I'll be sure to post some photos if you promise not to laugh!! 

I haven't gotten a chance to scrap or make any cards since the beginning of the week, I'm hoping my mojo will return sometime in the next 12 hours seeing as it's the weekend! 

Speaking of which... has your household got Ravens or Steelers fever? EVERYONE here is going crazy about the game this weekend. DH has warned me that he'll be pretty rowdy and I might want to find something to do Sunday! LOL He's a MAJOR Ravens fan. I enjoy watching the game but I normally don't get very worked up about it. Last weekend however I did... I thought for sure we were going to lose, but the kicker (sorry I don't know his name) saved us... twice :) I know this will be a tough game tomorrow but I hope the Ravens win 

GO RAVENS!!

Have you seen my Mojo?

because it hasn't been here in weeks. :( I'm planning to do some cleaning and purging, hopefully that'll stir up some inspiration.

I did create a card for the weekly color challenge over at the Paper Wings website, I'm not too happy with it but it felt good to sit down and actually start and finish a card.

 

I stamped the background using a sentiment from TAC's ordinary greetings set. The focal image is from a retired set called Friendly Note. Then I colored the image using a glitter pen & Copic markers. You can click the image for a close up view.

On another crafty front, I'm taking my first sewing class tomorrow at Joann's. We'll be making an apron. The pattern seems simple enough so hopefully I'll have something to share with you on Friday.

2008 went by too fast for me! I normally make way too many resolutions so this year I'm going to keep it simple.

1. Health First! I'm not making a weight loss goal, instead I'm going to continue to work towards my goal of becoming physically strongerr & completing a 5k.

2. Follow Through on commitments... especially self commitments.

3. Keep in touch with loved ones (make more phone calls, send more cards, ect.)

4. Scrap more, take more photos of everyday stuff, & enjoy the process.

5. Learn to sew! :) DH & DS gave me a sewing machine for Christmas so I really want to learn how to create some basic clothing items.

No blog post is complete without something crafty :) this is a thank you card I created the week before Christmas.
